MSI recently brought the new kit it unveiled at CES in\u00a0January to show off in South Africa.<\/p>\n

Among the gear it demonstrated was\u00a0a 13-inch ultrabook \u2014 the GS30 Shadow \u2014 that docks with something that looks like a Mini-ITX PC.<\/p>\n

The GamingDock, as dubbed by MSI, houses a standard 450W power supply and PCI-Express x16 graphics card, and can also hold a 3.5″ hard drive.<\/p>\n

MSI has promised that the GS30 will have full-speed access to the components in the GamingDock.<\/p>\n

The notebook itself features a 4th generation Intel Core i7 processor, up to 16GB of DDR3L 1600MHz memory, up to two mSATA solid state drives, and a full HD 13.3″ display.<\/p>\n

With the dock, MSI estimated that the GS30 will retail for around R30,000 in South Africa.<\/p>\n

MSI emphasised that prices for\u00a0the two devices haven’t been finalised yet, as distributors are able to customise the specifications.<\/p>\n

Another interesting piece of hardware MSI unveiled was an engineering sample of the MSI GT80 Titan, a beast of a notebook that lives up to its name.<\/p>\n

Not only is the GT80 physically massive \u2014 with its 18.4-inch screen \u2014\u00a0its powerful components also pack a punch.<\/p>\n

It sports two\u00a0Nvidia GeForce GTX 980M graphics cards in SLi configuration, up to 4 solid state mSATA drives in MSI \u201cSuper Raid 3\u201d, up to 32GB RAM, and a 1TB hard drive.<\/p>\n

It also has a tenkeyless mechanical keyboard with Cherry MX Brown switches built in and a large touchpad that doubles as a number pad when needed.<\/p>\n

A maximum spec MSI GT80 Titan will weigh in at around 4.5kg, and is expected to retail in the region of R70,000.<\/p>\n

Reducing the specs to 16GB RAM, 256GB of SSD storage, and an Nvidia GeForce GTX 970M graphics card should bring the cost down to R45,000, MSI said.<\/p>\n
