Mosima Hack Team, the group that claimed responsibility for a recent attack on the website of the ANC, said it \u201cseized up documents\u201d before deleting the site.<\/p>\n
However, website host Unwembi said that nothing stored on the ANC\u2019s web server was sensitive in nature.<\/p>\n
\u201cAs everything on the ANC website is in the public domain, claims that seized documents will be released to the media are without substance,\u201d Unwembi said.<\/p>\n
Asked how the hackers gained access to the server hosting the ANC\u2019s website, Unwembi\u2019s managing director Andrew Friedman said that hackers adapt and \u201coutpace\u201d the various mechanisms put in place to prevent intrusions.<\/p>\n
“Unwembi deploys several security layers, comprising both software and hardware to protect such high profile sites and constantly does testing to mitigate vulnerabilities,” said Friedman.<\/p>\n
He added that this lets them detect many attacks which take place constantly and are thwarted.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhilst concerning, the full services of the site plus its data were restored within a very short space of time, reducing the impact of this hack.”<\/p>\n
Unwembi is still investigating the site\u2019s records, and has already uncovered data that will be forwarded to the authorities for investigation.<\/p>\n
Regardless of the promise of legal consequences, the Mosima Team said it had a message for Zuma and his \u201cconnected entities\u201d.<\/p>\n
\u201cYou know who we are, you don\u2019t know where we are, but we will find you,\u201d the Mosima group said.<\/p>\n
