{"id":119582,"date":"2015-02-25T10:56:51","date_gmt":"2015-02-25T08:56:51","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/?p=119582"},"modified":"2015-02-25T10:58:45","modified_gmt":"2015-02-25T08:58:45","slug":"7-5gbps-5g-mobile-data-speeds-demoed","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/cellular\/119582-7-5gbps-5g-mobile-data-speeds-demoed.html","title":{"rendered":"7.5Gbps &#8216;5G&#8217; mobile data speeds demoed"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Samsung and Korean mobile network operator SK Telecom are set to test a\u00a07.5Gbps &#8220;5G&#8221; data system at the upcoming\u00a0Mobile World Congress, taking place in Spain from 2 &#8211; 5 March 2015.<\/p>\n<p>The planned exhibition\u00a0follows <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/wireless\/112366-samsung-hits-7-5gbps-with-5g-tech.html\">Samsung&#8217;s successful testing<\/a><\/strong> of the 5G network in October 2014.<\/p>\n<p>At the time, the company achieved the\u00a07.5Gbps using a\u00a028GHz network, which was also able to transfer data at\u00a01.2Gbps while travelling at 100km\/h.<\/p>\n<p>According to reports, the technology comes with a few catches, though.<\/p>\n<p>The new &#8220;5G&#8221; technology &#8211; which has not been officially defined as yet &#8211; uses millimeter wave signals to send\u00a0information between the network and user.
