In March Multichoice announced that it would be increasing subscription prices on selected DSTv packages. This saw the Pay TV service’s most popular offering, DSTv Premium, increase by R30 from R499 to R529. <\/p>\n

A company spokesperson has now confirmed that the price increases have officially come into effect and are applicable to all DSTv subscribers. <\/p>\n

The increases are reportedly intended “to accommodate the rise in cost of operations” said a company spokesperson recently.<\/p>\n

The PVR access fee will also see an increase from R60 to R65 monthly. This is applicable to DStv subscribers who wish to access MultiChoice’s SD PVR and HD PVR offerings. <\/p>\n

Despite significantly increasing DSTvs value proposition within its high definition package in recent months – initially by adding two new HD channels to its bouquet, which brought the total to three, and then by releasing a new UEC HD PVR decoder to compete with the current PACE model – subscribers have been questioning when they will receive DSTv on Demand and Series functionality. <\/p>\n

Thus far Mutlichoice has been unable to confirm when the firmware update, which will bring these functions to the HD PVR, will take place.<\/p>\n
