Effective Measure has released its website traffic statistics for February 2015, with\u00a0News24 reclaiming its spot as South Africa’s biggest website.<\/p>\n

News24 was followed by Gumtree, with Times Live coming in third.<\/p>\n

Effective Measure is the official traffic measurement partner of the IAB South Africa (formerly DMMA), and provides accurate traffic and demographics statistics for South Africa\u2019s top websites.<\/p>\n

According to the Effective Measure stats, News24 attracted\u00a05,390,167 South African browsers during February.<\/p>\n

Gumtree attracted\u00a04,099,431 unique local browsers, followed by Times Live with\u00a02,387,577.<\/p>\n

The table below shows the the largest IAB SA affiliated websites in South Africa. It should be noted that large websites which are not registered with the IAB SA, like BidorBuy and the local banks, are not included.<\/p>\n

It should further be kept in mind that these statistics are for South African visitors only, and all international traffic is therefore excluded.<\/p>\n

Top websites visited by South Africans<\/h3>\n

Effective Measure\u2019s website traffic statistics are accurate because of its tracking system.<\/p>\n

All IAB affiliated websites load tracking code in their websites, which makes accurate traffic measurements possible.<\/p>\n

Alexa, in comparison, uses panel-based data from its toolbar users to rank websites based on traffic. This is not as accurate as Effective Measure\u2019s cookie-based tracking.<\/p>\n

Alexa does, however, provide a rough overview of the most popular websites visited by South African Internet users over the past 30 days.<\/p>\n
