Apple announced a new, low-power, ultra-thin MacBook notebook computer at a event it held in San Francisco on 9 March 2015.<\/p>\n

Senior vice president of worldwide marketing at Apple Phil Schiller introduced the new computer, saying the device features a new keyboard and new trackpad design.<\/p>\n

The usual scissor mechanism used in the Mac keyboard is replaced with a \u201cbutterfly\u201d switch. It is a single-assembly switch with a stainless steel dome.<\/p>\n

Keycaps on the new MacBook\u2019s keyboard will also be larger, Schiller said.<\/p>\n

The trackpad has also been replaced with a glass multi-touch surface that features the \u201ctaptic\u201d technology used in the Apple Watch.<\/p>\n

This allows you to click the trackpad anywhere, and not just the bottom half as previous MacBook trackpads did.<\/p>\n

Since the click is registered by four force sensors, the click feel is also adjustable in software, and clicks can be force sensitive.<\/p>\n

The new MacBook is 13.1mm thick at its thickest point, weighs 0.91kg (2lbs), and features a 2304×1440 12-inch Retina display.<\/p>\n

Regarding the rest of the device\u2019s hardware, it will\u00a0be the first fanless MacBook ever, and will\u00a0run on an Intel Core M processor clocked up to 1.3GHz, consuming a maximum of 5W of power.<\/p>\n

The new MacBook features a single USB-C port on the left edge through which it charges, and offers USB 3.1 (5Gbps) and DisplayPort 1.2 connectivity.<\/p>\n

Two models of the new MacBook will start shipping on 10 April 2015 through select Apple Authorised Resellers.<\/p>\n

The first model will cost $1,299 and feature a 1.1GHz dual-core Intel Core M processor, 8GB of RAM, 256GB of flash storage, and Intel HD Graphics 5300.<\/p>\n

A model for $1,599 will also be available which has a 1.2GHz dual-core Intel Core M processor, 8GB of RAM, 512GB of flash storage, and Intel HD Graphics 5300.<\/p>\n

Apple said additional technical specifications, configure-to-order options, and accessories will be available through its website.<\/p>\n
