{"id":121804,"date":"2015-03-13T07:51:01","date_gmt":"2015-03-13T05:51:01","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/?p=121804"},"modified":"2015-03-13T07:53:25","modified_gmt":"2015-03-13T05:53:25","slug":"first-google-shop-opens","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/gadgets\/121804-first-google-shop-opens.html","title":{"rendered":"First Google shop opens"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Google has unveiled its first \u201cshop in shop\u201d &#8211; called the Google shop &#8211; in Currys PC World in the technology hub of London\u2019s Tottenham Court Road.<\/p>\n<p>The Google shop will offer customers the chance to sample Google\u2019s range of Android phones and tablets, Chromebook laptops, and Chromecasts.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, visitors will have the chance to play with Google\u2019s software tools and apps in a unique way, with installations including:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A surround screen installation called \u201cPortal\u201d, where users can \u201cfly\u201d through any part of the planet through Google Earth.<\/li>\n<li>A Doodle Wall where\u00a0people\u00a0can use digital spray cans to paint their own take on Google\u2019s logo, which can be shared on social media.<\/li>\n<li>A Chromecast Pod where customers watch Google Play Movies, YouTube, and more, using\u00a0a Chromecast dongle that converts any TV into a smart TV.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Google shop hopes to host regular classes and events for the public. Classes will range from how to keep secure online and simply learning how devices work, to understanding how different devices work together.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cVirtual Space Camps\u201d will be offered to teach children the basics of coding and teachers will be invited to \u201cOpen House\u201d events, to keep up to speed on the free educational tools on offer from Google.<\/p>\n<div
