Stack Overflow has released the results of its 2015 developer survey, which were based on responses from 26,086 people from 157 countries.<\/p>\n

According to Stack Overflow, it conducted the 2015 developer survey to understand their software developer community.<\/p>\n

Stack Overflow highlighted that the results are not unbiased: “Like the results of any survey, they are skewed by selection bias, language bias, and probably a few other biases.”<\/p>\n

Despite the “biased” results, it provides insight into the global software development community.<\/p>\n

Highest number of developers per capita<\/h3>\n

The survey revealed that Luxembourg has the highest number of developers per 1,000 people, while Somalia had the lowest number.<\/p>\n

The survey showed the vast majority of software developers are male.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur internal stats suggest the imbalance isn’t quite as severe as the survey results make it seem, but there’s no doubt everyone who codes needs to be more proactive welcoming women into the field,\u201d Stack Overflow said.<\/p>\n

Javascript is the most popular technology, followed by SQL and Java.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe more things change, the more likely it is those things are written in JavaScript with NotePad++ on a Windows machine (theme: dark) using Git, and tabs instead of spaces,\u201d Stack Overflow joked.<\/p>\n

The survey provided respondents with a list of 24 common developer types, with\u00a0full-stack web developer the most common occupation.<\/p>\n

76% of software developers said they were satisfied at work \u2013 much higher than normal employees.<\/p>\n

Executives are 16% more satisfied than average. Product managers are generally the least satisfied with their jobs.<\/p>\n
