{"id":123776,"date":"2015-04-12T09:10:13","date_gmt":"2015-04-12T07:10:13","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/?p=123776"},"modified":"2015-04-12T09:16:42","modified_gmt":"2015-04-12T07:16:42","slug":"eskom-stage-2-load-shedding-hits","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/energy\/123776-eskom-stage-2-load-shedding-hits.html","title":{"rendered":"Eskom stage 2 load shedding hits"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Eskom announced that it will implement stage 2 load shedding from 10:00 today (Sunday, 12 April 2015), which is likely to continue until 22:00 this evening.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is due to a shortage of generation capacity as several units are currently out of service due to planned and unplanned outages,\u201d Eskom said.<\/p>\n<p>News that Eskom would begin stage 2 load shedding comes after the beleaguered power utility warned on Friday that forecasted peak demand through the weekend until Wednesday was expected to outstrip supply.<\/p>\n<p>The capacity originally expected to be available to meet evening peak demand was 28,532MW (including open cycle gas turbines), while demand was forecast at 28,848MW.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_123778\" style=\"width: 605px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/Eskom-Supply-and-Demand.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-123778\" class=\"size-full wp-image-123778\" src=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/Eskom-Supply-and-Demand.png\" alt=\"Eskom Supply and Demand - 10 April 2015 to 15 April 2015\" width=\"595\" height=\"262\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-123778\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Eskom Supply and Demand &#8211;
