Our Platinum Uncapped products run on a World Class Business ADSL network, where we take the meaning of ‘Always-On’ to heart. With fail-over accounts at the clients disposal, ‘going down’ will not be an option,” says Openweb founder Keoma Wright.

Wright promises Platinum ADSL Uncapped subscribers the “lowest contention ratios, an A-Grade business critical network and a fibre international backbone”.

Uncapped Pricing

Despite the promises about business quality services, full redundancy and a great network, the significantly higher pricing for the new Openweb Platinum ADSL Uncapped offering is likely to scare off many consumers.

Shaped accounts start at R899 for a 384 Kbps service, and increase to R1489 for a 512 Kbps service and R2699 for a 4 Mbps service.

Unshaped accounts are priced at R999 for a 384 Kbps service, R1689 for a 512 Kbps service and R2899 for a 4 Mbps service.

The Openweb Platinum ADSL Uncapped prices are significantly higher than MWEB’s R219, R299 and R539 for uncapped 384 Kbps, 512 Kbps and 4 Mbps offerings respectively.

Openweb’s Platinum packages are also more expensive than MWEB’s unshaped business accounts priced at R499, R699 and R1999 for uncapped and unshaped 384 Kbps, 512 Kbps and 4 Mbps services.

Wright explains that the Platinum Shaped option has a much lower contention ratio than the cheap consumer uncapped services. “If you look at the Shaped service: Shaping is only evident when the network runs at capacity, which hardly ever happens, as upgrades are implemented continuously,” says Wright.

“One cannot use a consumer based product for Business critical applications. Platinum uncapped also provide users with a fail-over ADSL account in the case of any downtime on the main network.”

Openweb Platinum uncapped ADSL << comments and views

Openweb is set to launch their new Platinum ADSL Uncapped service on 1 June, but pricing may scare off some consumers

[5

post-12545","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-adsl
