{"id":12781,"date":"2010-06-01T19:40:00","date_gmt":"2010-06-01T17:40:00","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"2010-06-01T19:40:00","modified_gmt":"2010-06-01T17:40:00","slug":"seacom-network-configuration-continues","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/telecoms\/12781-seacom-network-configuration-continues.html","title":{"rendered":"SEACOM network configuration continues"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>SEACOM recently announced that it is on track to finalize its own link through the Red Sea and over Egypt by the end of June 2010. &ldquo;With this piece of the mesh finally in place, another critical alternative for traffic routing will become available thereby further reducing the impact of network outages for African users,&rdquo; SEACOM said.<\/p>\n<p>Over the weekend <a href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/telecoms\/12723-SEACOM-network-configuration-may-impact-traffic.html\">SEACOM reconfigured the branching unit in the Arabian Sea<\/a> (to add the link to Egypt) and the recalibration of the power feeding equipment to support single end feeding to Egypt from South Africa.<\/p>\n<p>Yesterday the company said that the cable ship in charge of the reconfiguration of the Arabian Sea&rsquo;s branching unit is on schedule with the final splicing underway.&nbsp; &ldquo;We continue to monitor the ship&rsquo;s activities closely and remains confident that no downtime will be experienced by customers,&rdquo; said SEACOM.<\/p>\n<p>SEACOM today announced that the next stage in its cable network configuration is scheduled for later tonight with the splicing between the Mumbai and the Red Sea legs.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;There is no expected downtime but there may be some traffic slowdown in power alignments.
