Windows 10 will launch on 29 July 2015, Microsoft\u2019s head of operating systems Terry Myerson said<\/a><\/strong> on 1 June.<\/p>\n

Microsoft\u2019s announcement follows a report by\u00a0The Verge<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0in which AMD CEO Lisa Su\u00a0said\u00a0Windows 10 would launch at the end of July.<\/p>\n

Myerson said\u00a0that for the first year after release, existing Windows 7 and 8.1 users will receive a free upgrade to Windows 10.<\/p>\n

Windows 10 will receive a number of new features and updates, said Myerson:<\/p>\n

  1. Cortana <\/strong>–\u00a0Microsoft\u2019s personal assistant with natural language processing capabilities. Similar to Siri and OK Google.<\/li>\n
  2. Microsoft Edge<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>–\u00a0Formerly known as Project Spartan. The new web browser set to replace Internet Explorer.<\/li>\n
  3. New Office on Windows <\/strong>–\u00a0Redesigned universal Windows applications for Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. OneNote and Outlook included with Windows 10 for free.<\/li>\n
  4. Xbox Live and the integrated Xbox App <\/strong>–\u00a0Microsoft promised to bring new game experiences to Windows 10.<\/li>\n
  5. New Photos, Videos, Music, Maps, People, Mail & Calendar apps <\/strong>–\u00a0Updated designs for Windows 10.<\/li>\n
  6. Windows Continuum <\/strong>–\u00a0Move from tablet (touch) to PC (keyboard and mouse) and back again.<\/li>\n
  7. Windows Hello <\/strong>–\u00a0Log in without a password using biometric (face, iris, fingerprint) authentication.<\/li>\n
  8. Windows Store\u00a0<\/strong>–\u00a0Desktop apps are now available in Microsoft digital storefront for Windows.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
