FNB recently announced it will launch its own mobile virtual network operator on 15 June 2015.<\/p>\n

Called FNB Connect, its mobile services will be sold separately from the bank\u2019s existing smart device deals\u00a0and\u00a0will have its own branded SIM cards.<\/p>\n

While the FNB network will run on Cell C\u2019s infrastructure, it has set up its own set of packages – which include\u00a0mobile data contracts and bundles.<\/p>\n

This is how FNB Connect\u2019s mobile data contracts compare with those of Vodacom, MTN, Telkom, and Cell C.<\/p>\n

It should be noted that Telkom\u2019s SIM-only contracts listed above can be taken on a month-to-month basis, while others are typically on a 12 to 24-month basis.<\/p>\n

In addition to data contracts, FNB Connect also offers bundles which prepaid and contract subscribers can use to add data to their packages, or top them up.<\/p>\n

These are compared to the bundles offered by rival networks, in the table below.<\/p>\n

It is worth noting that MTN is currently running a promotion (Da-taaa!), which offers a bonus data allocation for a limited period on data bundle purchases.<\/p>\n

Its 1GB bundle for R160, for example, includes an additional 1GB of data valid for 30 days, effectively making it a 2GB bundle. MTN\u2019s 2GB bundle offers a similar bonus.<\/p>\n

This promotion is scheduled to run until at least 31 July 2015.<\/p>\n

The Telkom Mobile prices shown above are also for the network\u2019s \u201cAll network\u201d bundles, to ensure a fair comparison.<\/p>\n

FNB Connect airtime and Ebucks rewards<\/h3>\n

As the tables above show, FNB Connect offers competitive rates – but it is frequently more expensive than its host network.<\/p>\n

However, this comparison\u00a0does not\u00a0take into the account the potential discounts and rewards FNB clients might receive.<\/p>\n

The bank has promised its subscribers will get R15 back in free\u00a0prepaid airtime for every R100 spent on FNB Connect prepaid airtime, or on their qualifying FNB Connect contract.<\/p>\n

From 1 July 2015, FNB clients will also earn Ebucks on their contract or when they load airtime.<\/p>\n

The amount of Ebucks earned will depend on the reward level a client is on, with the highest levels earning up to 40% back on a qualifying contract, or when they load FNB Connect prepaid airtime.<\/p>\n
