When I first closed it down many people approached me with ideas of restarting it but I didn’t have the time to do it. Over the past year things have changed and I now feel better placed to work on Tectonic again.”

“During the 11 months that I wasn’t publishing Tectonic it became very clear that almost no publications give any coverage to open source software in Africa. I’ve always believed that there are great open source projects and people in Africa and part of the motivation to restart Tectonic was to start doing this again.

“It’s also important to provide an African perspective on major international news. Too often this is ignored.”

Funding the site, says Otter, will largely be through a combination of online advertising, community support and related projects. “I have a number of open source-related projects that I am hoping to launch from the site,” he says.

Visit Tectonic

Tectonic website relaunched << comments and views

[18

post-12835","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-internet
