{"id":1289,"date":"2007-09-12T09:04:00","date_gmt":"2007-09-12T07:04:00","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"2007-09-12T09:04:00","modified_gmt":"2007-09-12T07:04:00","slug":"icasa-awards-pay-tv-licenses","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/telecoms\/1289-icasa-awards-pay-tv-licenses.html","title":{"rendered":"ICASA awards pay-TV licenses"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The following successful companies were selected among the 18 applicants that applied for licenses last year:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Telkom Media<\/li>\n<li>Multichoice<\/li>\n<li>e-Sat (eTV)<\/li>\n<li>On Digital Media<\/li>\n<li>Walk on Water<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>ICASA received a written notice of withdrawal from Worldspace, Multichannel Television and Sentech.&nbsp; The&nbsp;10 remaining&nbsp;applicantions were refused licenses by the authority.&nbsp; Reasons for these decisions will be given within three weeks.<\/p>\n<p>According to Business Report &lsquo;analysts have predicted that breaking MultiChoice&#39;s dominance in the sector will be difficult because it has been operating for more than 10 years.
