MultiChoice launched a more affordable High Definition PVR (HD PVR)<\/a> decoder for its DStv service.  The new decoder, called HD PVR 2P, is available at a launch price of R1999.  This decoder compliments the standard DStv HD PVRs which currently retail for R2999.<\/p>\n

This begs the question how the new HD PVR, which is manufactured by Altech UEC<\/a>, stacks up against the SD PVR and the standard PACE\/UEC HD PVRs.  The following table provides an overview of features on the three different PVRs which are used on the DStv platform.<\/p>\n
