The Gauteng Department of Finance has launched an online invoice service targeting government suppliers that cuts invoice submission time to provincial government departments from 60 days to less than two days.<\/p>\n
\u201cWith the new system, suppliers can submit anytime, 24 hours a day, seven days a week,\u201d department spokesperson John Sukazi said.<\/p>\n
The online service was launched by the Gauteng Finance MEC Barbara Creecy on Monday.<\/p>\n
Provincial Treasury has invited all registered government suppliers to attend the Electronic Invoicing Services Supplier Information and On-boarding Sessions at its offices on 75 Fox Street.<\/p>\n
There are 357 suppliers who are in the process of being uploaded on the service.<\/p>\n
The Thusong Centre at Maponya Mall has been migrated onto the fibre optic Gauteng Broadband Network (GBN).<\/p>\n
\u201cAll provincial government departments will be migrated to GBN by end of December this year.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe speed and size of the network will enable a new generation of e-government services to run on the network,\u201d Sukazi said.<\/p>\n
Last year, the department allocated R250 million for the building of the GBN.<\/p>\n
\u201cDuring the course of this year 24 Thusong Centres across the province will be connected to the service to ensure those who do not have private electronic access are not excluded,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
