Plex.tv\u2019s webservers that host its blog and forums have been compromised, and the company has asked users to change their password.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are still investigating, but as far as we know, the attacker only gained access to these parts of our systems. Rest assured that credit card and other payment data are not stored on our servers at all,” said Plex.<\/p>\n
Those who received an e-mail from Plex informing them of the breach have a forum account which is linked to a plex.tv account, the software maker said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe attacker was able to gain access to IP addresses, private messages, email addresses, and encrypted forum passwords (in technical terms, they are hashed and salted).”<\/p>\n
\u201cDespite the password encryption measures, we take your privacy and security very seriously, so as a precaution, we\u2019re requiring that you change your password.\u201d<\/p>\n
Plex said it will post more information about the matter on its blog shortly.<\/p>\n
