The end of Adobe Flash may be near, following the news that Mozilla’s Firefox now blocks Flash by default.<\/p>\n

According to a report by The Verge<\/a><\/strong>, Firefox’s\u00a0Mark Schmidt confirmed that\u00a0all versions of Flash Player are now blocked by the browser.<\/p>\n

Mozilla’s move follows an announcement by Facebook’s security officer\u00a0Alex Stamos, who asked Adobe to announce an “end-of-life date” for Flash.<\/p>\n

Schmidt said\u00a0Firefox users can enable Flash if they want, through the settings menu.<\/p>\n

Mozilla\u00a0and Facebook’s open stance against Flash follows YouTube dropping the multimedia software in favour of\u00a0HTML5 in January 2015.<\/p>\n

Update<\/strong>: The Verge has reported that\u00a0Mark Schmidt sent out a second statement, noting that\u00a0future versions of Flash may be enabled by default if Adobe releases a new version.<\/p>\n
