{"id":137164,"date":"2015-09-02T14:52:46","date_gmt":"2015-09-02T12:52:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/?p=137164"},"modified":"2015-09-02T18:07:54","modified_gmt":"2015-09-02T16:07:54","slug":"massive-dstv-billing-problems","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/broadcasting\/137164-massive-dstv-billing-problems.html","title":{"rendered":"Massive DStv billing problems"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>DStv subscribers have taken to online forums and social media to complain about various billing issues that are\u00a0plaguing MultiChoice this month.<\/p>\n<p>Some have complained about being over-charged for their September subscription, while\u00a0others say their MultiChoice debit orders didn\u2019t go off and they\u2019ve subsequently been cut off.<\/p>\n<p>Most troubling is that multiple people who say they cancelled their subscriptions over a year ago, reported having their bank accounts debited.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI stopped my DStv a year ago.\u00a0I checked why debits were failing this month, only to find DStv re-activated my account without permission from the account holder, then they deducted R1,181 from my account,&#8221;\u00a0 a\u00a0former subscriber posted on Facebook.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;DStv said it will take 5-6 working days to give my money back.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Others whose accounts have been inactive for years have posted similar stories on Facebook, Hello Peter, and the <a href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/763950-DSTV-Account-suddenly-reactivated\"><strong>MyBroadband forums<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Besides the billing issues, this also raises the question as to why MultiChoice still has these people\u2019s bank account details on file.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Update:<\/strong> MultiChoice provided the following feedback when asked for comment.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>We have recently upgraded our customer management system and some of our customers experienced billing errors.
