We are currently researching these to find out which channels we would bring onto our platform,\u201d Multichoice said.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Requirements<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Apart from the obvious high-definition television, some subscribers may have to upgrade their decoder (LNB). [For the less technical readers, a low-noise block converter (LNB) is used in communications broadcast satellite reception.]<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf subscribers already have a twin LNB, they will need a multiswitch device for splitting the signal into 4. For a new subscriber or a subscriber with a single feed LNB, a new LNB will be required,\u201d said Multichoice.<\/p>\n<p>According to Duncan McLeod\u2019s FMTech, Multichoice \u2018recently signed an agreement with Pace Micro Technology of The Netherlands for the supply of HD-ready decoders with personal video recorder functionality.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>Multichoice could not give any details regarding the costs of the equipment or the service itself, saying that they can only advise on price closer to the launch period, as this is still being confirmed.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php?t=88088\">Comments<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Multichoice recently shed some light on its plans to launch high-definition television (HD-TV) in South Africa.
