OS X El Capitan, the latest major release of Apple’s desktop operating system, will be available on 30 September as a free update.<\/p>\n
El Capitan was first announced in June 2015 during Apple\u2019s Worldwide Developer Conference, with the company showing off\u00a0enhanced searching with Spotlight, a set of gestures for Apple Mail and Safari, new window management features for full-screen applications, and split-view full screen.<\/p>\n
Apple said El Capitan would also feature performance improvements to make everyday activities faster and more responsive.<\/p>\n
El Capitan features a new Notes app that lets you drag and drop photos, PDFs, videos, and other files into a note and add content directly from other apps using the Share menu.<\/p>\n
You can create checklists, and the new Attachments Browser organises your attachments in one view.<\/p>\n
Notes can be backed up with iCloud and synchronised to other Apple devices, where they can be edited.<\/p>\n
El Capitan supports all Macs introduced from 2009 onward, and certain\u00a0models from\u00a02007 and 2008.<\/p>\n
