Effective Measure has released its website traffic statistics for September 2015, revealing that News24, Gumtree, and Timeslive attracted the most South African visitors.<\/p>\n

Effective Measure is the official traffic measurement partner of the IAB South Africa, and provides accurate traffic and demographics statistics for South Africa\u2019s top websites.<\/p>\n

According to the Effective Measure stats, News24 attracted 5.5 million\u00a0unique South African browsers last month.<\/p>\n

Gumtree was ranked second with 5.1 million unique local browsers, followed by Timeslive with 2.7 million.<\/p>\n

The table shows the largest IAB SA affiliated websites in South Africa. It should be noted that large websites which are not registered with the IAB SA, like BidorBuy and the local banks, are not included in this list.<\/p>\n

These statistics are for South African visitors only – all international traffic is excluded.<\/p>\n

Top websites visited by South Africans<\/h3>\n

Effective Measure\u2019s website traffic statistics are accurate because of its tracking system. All IAB affiliated websites load tracking code, which makes accurate traffic measurements possible.<\/p>\n

Alexa, in comparison, uses panel-based data from its toolbar users to rank websites based on traffic. This is not as accurate as Effective Measure\u2019s cookie-based tracking.<\/p>\n

Alexa does, however, provide a rough overview of the most popular websites visited by South African Internet users over the past 30 days.<\/p>\n
