{"id":140830,"date":"2015-10-06T14:37:25","date_gmt":"2015-10-06T12:37:25","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/?p=140830"},"modified":"2015-10-06T14:46:24","modified_gmt":"2015-10-06T12:46:24","slug":"new-bmw-3-series-launched-in-south-africa","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/motoring\/140830-new-bmw-3-series-launched-in-south-africa.html","title":{"rendered":"New BMW 3 Series launched in South Africa"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The BMW 3 Series was launched in South Africa recently, celebrating over 40 years of the 3 Series brand being in production.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Around one in every four BMWs sold is a BMW 3 Series Sedan, which makes this model series the most successful in BMW brand\u2019s line-up,&#8221; said BMW.<\/p>\n<p>The company is looking to continue this trend by introducing the new, cutting-edge model, which features a &#8220;sharper design&#8221;, more advanced technology, and improved engines.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Four petrol units and two diesels are available, developing from 100kW to 240kW. They can be linked up with a six-speed manual gearbox and an eight-speed Steptronic transmission.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The new BMW 3 Series is also available in &#8220;classic&#8221; rear-wheel drive.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"my-4\">340i<\/h3>\n<p>The top-of-the-range model in the new line-up is the 340i.<\/p>\n<p>The car features a twin-turbo 6-cylinder, 3.0-litre petrol engine which puts out 240kW (321hp) and 450Nm of torque.<\/p>\n<p>Performance figures claimed by BMW state the 340i will do 0-100km\/h in 5.1 seconds &#8211; with the car reaching a limited top speed of 250km\/h.<\/p>\n<p>Fuel\u00a0consumption figures are rated as follows: Combined &#8211; 6.5l\/100km; Out of Town &#8211; 5.3l\/100km; In Town &#8211; 8.6l\/100km (Automatic figures).<\/p>\n<p>Local pricing from BMW is as follows (6-speed manual, Standard):<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>320d &#8211; <strong>R472,000<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>330d (8-speed Automatic) &#8211; <strong>R596,000<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>318i &#8211; <strong>R409,000<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>320i &#8211; <strong>R443,000<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>330i &#8211; <strong>R516,000<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>340i (8-speed Automatic) &#8211; <strong>R656,000<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Luxury, Sport, and M Sport models are also available.
