Facebook has announced the launch of Slideshow, a new ad format which is meant to offer an alternative to video ads in bandwidth-strapped countries.<\/p>\n
A new tool in Facebook\u2019s Ad Manager lets businesses create a slideshow from their own set of photos, or from stock images.<\/p>\n
From there it works like any other ad on the platform, Facebook said.<\/p>\n
These slideshows are far smaller than videos, making the experience better for users on 2G connections.<\/p>\n
Facebook said it conducted successful beta tests of the new Slideshow ad format with companies that ran campaigns in developing and developed markets.<\/p>\n
Asked whether the Slideshow feature would be limited to advertisers only, or whether users would be able to make slideshows too, Facebook said \u201cstay tuned\u201d.<\/p>\n
