{"id":144225,"date":"2015-10-30T11:26:37","date_gmt":"2015-10-30T09:26:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/?p=144225"},"modified":"2015-10-30T11:28:24","modified_gmt":"2015-10-30T09:28:24","slug":"microsoft-surface-book-has-major-problems","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/hardware\/144225-microsoft-surface-book-has-major-problems.html","title":{"rendered":"Microsoft Surface Book has major problems"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Owners of the Microsoft Surface Book have complained about the many hardware problems and software bugs they have been experiencing.<\/p>\n<p>A report on\u00a0<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.zdnet.com\/article\/surface-book-suffers-from-launch-day-bugs\/\" target=\"_blank\">ZDNet<\/a> <\/strong>collected some of the issues people have reported, highlighting there are also many who are happy with their purchase.<\/p>\n<p>One issue widely reported is that the Surface Book changes the screen temperature as you scroll a webpage.<\/p>\n<p>Users have reported that this happens on both the built-in and external monitors, and results in the colour hues changing as you scroll.<\/p>\n<p>A video of the phenomenon is embedded below.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/bHIFpUWB2AY\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>There have also been reports that connecting or disconnecting the dock can be problematic, with some ending up with the screen half-disconnected.<\/p>\n<p>Users have also noticed a screen wobble, which they suspect\u00a0is due to a weight imbalance between the screen and keyboard.<\/p>\n<p>A number of other issues have also been reported elsewhere, including <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/theopriestley\/2015\/10\/27\/microsoft-surface-book-hit-with-early-problems-already\/\" target=\"_blank\">Forbes<\/a><\/strong>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Dead on arrival, or badly limping on arrival<\/li>\n<li>Random crashes and lockups, such as a Run32DLL error after using the device for awhile<\/li>\n<li>Working fine until updated, after which fail to load<\/li>\n<li>Failing to boot when in the dock<\/li>\n<li>Detaching from the dock results in an error, the most common related to SearchUI<\/li>\n<li>Random display driver errors displayed every 10 to 20 minutes<\/li>\n<li>Playing video files while connected to the dock sometimes gives an \u201cunable to decode\u201d error. After displaying the error 2-3 times, it refuses to play videos until rebooted<\/li>\n<li>Going to a web page where there are a lot of animations or movement causes a black screen.
