Commenting on the news that iBurst today becomes the second local wireless broadband provider to reach the 50 000 customer milestone, iBurst CEO Thami Mtshali said: “The growth of iBurst since January 2006 has been astonishing and we attribute this to a great product that’s available when people want it.” There are four wireless broadband providers in South Africa.<\/p>\n
“We’ll reach 100 000 subscribers during 2008,” added Mr Mtshali.<\/p>\n
iBurst now boasts a total complement of over 150 base stations with new sites added to the network almost weekly. The company has set itself a target of 200 base stations by the end of 2007.<\/p>\n
The company said that iBurst offers both mobility and reliability because of its smart design. “Few mobile technologies can claim to have a pedigree such as iBurst,” said Mr Mtshali.<\/p>\n
