{"id":144475,"date":"2015-11-02T11:25:28","date_gmt":"2015-11-02T09:25:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/?p=144475"},"modified":"2015-11-02T11:26:41","modified_gmt":"2015-11-02T09:26:41","slug":"why-you-need-a-deep-learning-antivirus","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/security\/144475-why-you-need-a-deep-learning-antivirus.html","title":{"rendered":"Why you need a deep-learning antivirus"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Antivirus and anti-malware programs may protect your PC from known security threats, but it&#8217;s the unknown malicious software which gives attackers a chance to compromise your system.<\/p>\n<p>According to a report by <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.engadget.com\/2015\/11\/01\/you-might-not-have-to-update-next-gen-antivirus-software\/\" target=\"_blank\">Engadget<\/a><\/strong>, new pieces of malicious software can infect a PC before its antivirus program\u00a0has updated &#8211; or systems whose users do not regularly download the latest updates.<\/p>\n<p>Security researchers are looking to combat this issue using\u00a0deep learning algorithms that can identify\u00a0new malicious code without database updates.<\/p>\n<p>Israeli startup Deep Instinct plans to use\u00a0an artificial neural network to build an antivirus suite that can recognise\u00a0new malware with 20% higher accuracy than today&#8217;s protection software.<\/p>\n<p>Microsoft and Invincea have also published papers on the potential of deep learning malware detection systems.
