Sharp Corporation will introduce into the Japanese market seven AQUOS Blu-ray Disc Recorders that reflect Sharp's persistent focus on true image quality and easy operability. <\/p>\n
The new BD-AV1 and BD-AV10 Series enables recording and playback of digital broadcasts of HDTV programs with the same high-resolution image quality as broadcast with simple operation even easier than VCRs that users are already accustomed to. <\/p>\n
As terrestrial digital broadcasting spreads around the world and full-HD LCD TVs become more popular, the desire to be able to easily record high-definition pictures is increasing rapidly. <\/p>\n
At the same time, there are a great many potential users who still hesitate to upgrade from VCRs due to a preconceived notion that the various types of media and formats in existing HDTV recorders and players make them difficult to use. <\/p>\n
The company will introduce into the Japanese market two new AQUOS Blu-ray Disc Recorders: the BD-HDW20 featuring a hard drive with a 1-TB (terabyte) capacity, the industry's largest, and the BD-HDW15 with a 500-GB hard drive. <\/p>\n
In designing these AQUOS Blu-ray Disc Recorders, Sharp placed emphasis on faithfully reproducing high-resolution video images from digital broadcasts and Blu-ray discs on the AQUOS LCD TV. <\/p>\n
They are equipped with hard drives from 500 GB to 1 TB in capacity, and also support dubbing (moving) video from the hard drive to BD-RE or BD-R discs. HDTV programs recorded on the hard disk can be dubbed (moved) to Blu-ray discs while retaining exactly the same image quality as broadcast, enabling users to easily create an HDTV library. <\/p>\n
