{"id":146047,"date":"2015-11-13T09:40:29","date_gmt":"2015-11-13T07:40:29","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/?p=146047"},"modified":"2015-11-13T09:43:06","modified_gmt":"2015-11-13T07:43:06","slug":"big-windows-10-update-launched-today","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/software\/146047-big-windows-10-update-launched-today.html","title":{"rendered":"Big Windows 10 update launched today"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Microsoft has <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.windows.com\/windowsexperience\/2015\/11\/12\/first-major-update-for-windows-10-available-today\/\" target=\"_blank\">reached its next milestone for Windows 10<\/a><\/strong> by releasing the &#8220;first major update&#8221; for the operating system.<\/p>\n<p>Aimed at PCs and tablets, Microsoft said the update contains improvements to all aspects of Windows 10 &#8211; including thousands of partners updating their device drivers and applications for Windows 10 compatibility.<\/p>\n<p>Windows 10 also starts rolling out to Xbox One today and select mobile phones soon, said Microsoft.<\/p>\n<p>Many individuals and organisations wait for the first &#8220;Service Pack&#8221; of a new Windows operating system before making the switch.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMost importantly, with this free update we have reached the point in the platform\u2019s maturity where we can confidently recommend Windows 10 deployment to whole organisations,&#8221; said Microsoft.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"my-4\">New services aimed at IT<\/h3>\n<p>Microsoft also announced the launch of two new free services aimed at IT departments.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Windows Update for Business<\/strong> provides IT controls over the deployment of updates within their organisations. Features include setting up device groups with staggered deployments and scaling deployments with network optimisations.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Windows Store for Business<\/strong> provides IT a way to find, acquire, manage, and distribute apps to Windows 10 devices \u2013 both Windows Store apps and custom line of business apps.
