Windows 10 update downloadable again

The big November update for Windows 10 is now available for download again after Microsoft removed it from Windows Update and the Media Creation Tool.

This follows speculation that Microsoft had pulled the update after numerous bugs with version 1511 of Windows 10 had been reported.

Microsoft’s trouble with the update is concerning, as it billed it as the “first major update” for Windows 10.

“With this free update, we have reached the point in the platform’s maturity where we can confidently recommend Windows 10 deployment to whole organisations,” said Microsoft .

A recent Knowledge Base article on the Microsoft website has clarified the issue, explaining that it had to do with the update silently reverting certain privacy settings to their defaults.

“We learned of an issue that could have impacted an extremely small number of people who had already installed Windows 10 and applied the November update (Version 1511),” the article said.

“When the November update was installed, a few settings preferences may have inadvertently not been retained for advertising ID, Background apps, SmartScreen Filter, and Sync with devices.”

This has now been fixed, and the update is available for download again.

More Windows 10 news

<a
