In the past, a company’s or brand’s online presence was only accessible through text searches.

Superlogos director Tom Pearson-Adams said companies worldwide were spending millions on designing, marketing and advertising brands that often did not appear on any search engine.

“Brand image is massive worldwide, and something that people easily recognise. However, we have found that brands are not represented on the Internet,” said Pearson-Adams.

He added that the company had sourced the best brands within six broad categories to be listed on the site.

These categories are: business and finance; entertainment; fashion; food and beverage; lifestyle; and technology.

These are further broken down into 26 sub-categories.

“There’s nothing less than five-star on this site. We have done our legwork and chose to include the best in each category,” said Pearson-Adams.

“For example, if you are in SA and want to buy a watch, not only can you find all the most prestigious brands on one page but, when you click on your chosen logo, we direct you to that company’s domestic website which shows you where you can find what you want.”

Co-director and the brains behind the concept, Rob Sawyer, said the company is ready to be launched in the UK and Germany early next year.

“This search engine is the first of its kind in the world. We have 77 countries on our database and hope to roll out the site worldwide within 18 months,” said Sawyer.

He said the local website will be country-specific and cater for the needs of South Africans as well as overseas visitors.

“We have included various categories, including wine farms, game reserves, film production companies, fashion, hotels and vehicles — with the main focus on what the country has to offer.

“This is also a useful tool for tourists. Within three clicks, the user will be transported from the home page to the brand via a picture image of the logo.”

Comments

A South African company has pioneered a new search engine on the Internet based on logos and brands.

[17

post-1480","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-technology
