A new paper on piracy and religion states that God appears to be “one of the few” who can change people’s attitudes towards piracy.<\/p>\n
According to a report by TorrentFreak<\/a><\/strong>, researchers from Australia examined\u00a0the relationship between religious attitudes and piracy – finding that people who are “more religious” have negative\u00a0feelings towards digital piracy.<\/p>\n Respondents in the study were asked what they would do if\u00a0their pastor, friends, religion, or God told them not to pirate.<\/p>\n \u201cAmong the four referents, only God was the referent with the strongest influence that could discourage respondents from buying pirated media,\u201d the researcher stated.<\/p>\n If respondents were\u00a0told by their\u00a0religion or pastor\u00a0not to pirate, it was unlikely to change their behaviour.<\/p>\n \u201cReligious institutions, in cooperation with educational institutions, could work together to communicate a strong message against digital piracy,\u201d the researchers proposed.<\/p>\nMore on piracy<\/h3>\n
