{"id":154372,"date":"2016-02-08T10:09:39","date_gmt":"2016-02-08T08:09:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/?p=154372"},"modified":"2016-02-09T18:43:31","modified_gmt":"2016-02-09T16:43:31","slug":"new-trojan-can-record-your-skype-conversations","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/security\/154372-new-trojan-can-record-your-skype-conversations.html","title":{"rendered":"New trojan can record your Skype conversations"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A new backdoor trojan called T9000 has the ability to steal files, take screenshots, and record Skype conversations.<\/p>\n<p>The trojan also has the ability to avoid antivirus software detection.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe malware goes to great lengths to identify a total of 24 potential security products that may be running on a system and customizes its installation mechanism to specifically evade those that are installed,\u201d <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/researchcenter.paloaltonetworks.com\/2016\/02\/t9000-advanced-modular-backdoor-uses-complex-anti-analysis-techniques\/\" target=\"_blank\">Palo Alto Networks said<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt uses a multi-stage installation process with specific checks at each point to identify if it is undergoing analysis by a security researcher.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/news.softpedia.com\/news\/t9000-backdoor-malware-targets-skype-users-records-conversations-500018.shtml\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Softpedia reported that<\/strong><\/a> the T9000 trojan is an evolution of an older backdoor called T5000, which targeted human rights activist.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"my-4\">Microsoft responds<\/h3>\n<p>Microsoft issued the following statement in response to news of the trojan.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>To further protect our customers, we\u2019ve added detection for the malicious software known as \u2018T9000\u2019 to Windows Defender.
