Sentech’s Vivid platform is a digital satellite system that receives television and radio signals. The company says that the increasing demand for satellite technology places Vivid at the forefront of the ICT industry. <\/p>\n
Vivid works on the basis of a set-top box and a smart card, much like other satellite broadcasting systems, and allows for free to air TV and\/ or radio channels to be securely viewed. <\/p>\n
The key behind Vivid is that it is a once off purchase with no monthly subscription. This sets Vivid apart from the likes of DStv and other Pay TV services.<\/p>\n
Sentech is currently broadcasting on Vivid via two satellites, namely Panamsat PAS 7 and PAS10. <\/p>\n
The following channels are available on the service: SABC 1, SABC 2, SABC 3, e-tv, Mindset Learning Channel, Mindset Health Channel, Jet TV, Love World, Afrisat\/Nepad, I-TV, Hope TV, Spirit World TV, God Channel, TCT World and Daystar. There are also 29 radio channels available through the service. <\/p>\n
According to Sentech’s Product Manager, Marinda Abrahamse, “Sentech’s Vivid platform still forms part of our licencing agreement with ICASA, and as a result will continue to broadcast as usual. Our valued Vivid customers will continue to receive the best service we offer.”<\/p>\n
Vivid will actively continue to deliver on its longstanding agreements with Mindset’s Health and Learning channels, and will also offer other channels such as CNBC Africa and the SABC News International channel.<\/p>\n
The platform plans to expand its reach over rural South Africa where terrestrial signals are often disrupted.<\/p>\n
