{"id":160282,"date":"2016-04-13T14:58:19","date_gmt":"2016-04-13T12:58:19","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/?p=160282"},"modified":"2016-04-13T14:59:09","modified_gmt":"2016-04-13T12:59:09","slug":"hetzner-becoming-vendor-neutral-data-centre-champion","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/cloud-hosting\/160282-hetzner-becoming-vendor-neutral-data-centre-champion.html","title":{"rendered":"Hetzner becoming vendor-neutral data centre champion"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Hetzner recently became the <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/internet\/158485-johannesburg-internet-exchange-goes-multisite.html\">second host of the Johannesburg Internet Exchange (JINX)<\/a><\/strong>, complementing the INX-ZA\u2019s JINX node in Rosebank.<\/p>\n<p>The partnership between INX-ZA and Hetzner means the reach of JINX is extended to Hetzner&#8217;s vendor-neutral and fully-redundant data centre in Gauteng.<\/p>\n<p>The extension of JINX makes it easy for network operators, which already have a presence at JINX in Rosebank, to peer with networks at other locations where JINX has a presence.<\/p>\n<p>Hetzner\u2019s Data Centre Park is located close to major fibre routes and telecoms infrastructure, enabling easier interconnects, lower latencies, and better performance.<\/p>\n<p>Hetzner\u2019s customers will benefit from the new JINX node, which positions the hosting provider as a vendor-neutral data centre champion.<\/p>\n<p>The company said\u00a0JINX eliminates the need to route all traffic through expensive and often long-distance links, leading to cost savings.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNetwork operators also benefit from these lower costs, resulting in more affordable bandwidth,\u201d said Hetzner.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur data centre is 100% carrier-neutral, providing customers the freedom of choice of a wide range of network operators they can use.&#8221;<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"my-4\">Hetzner&#8217;s open peering policy<\/h3>\n<p>Hetzner said it has an open peering policy, and invited all network providers to peer with it\u00a0at JINX.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ve always been a big supporter of open peering with other network operators as it leads to substantial cost savings for our customers.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe also actively seek peering partnerships with network operators that do not peer openly.&#8221;<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"my-4\">Lower costs through simple products<\/h3>\n<p>Hetzner said it has identified an opportunity in the South African market to simplify products and lower the barrier to entry of colocation services.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHetzner offers a hassle-free, same-day colocation setup that compares favourably with traditional Tier 3 data centres,\u201d it said.<\/p>\n<p>Its colocation products are available on a month-to-month basis, with no additional setup costs.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCustomers plug in their server at our Samrand Data Centre Park, and they\u2019re ready to go.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Hetzner has also introduced a &#8220;pay as you use&#8221;
