Vivaldi Technologies has launched the first major release of its desktop browser – Vivaldi 1.0.<\/p>\n

Vivaldi originally aimed to target users who struggle to fit multiple open tabs on one screen.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe set out on a mission to make web browsers powerful again,\u201d said Jon von Tetzchner, Vivaldi head and\u00a0Opera Software co-founder.<\/p>\n

Vivaldi is built on Chromium, Google\u2019s open-source browser project on which Google Chrome is built.<\/p>\n

The browser supports Chrome add-ons, though the company said you shouldn’t need too many thanks to its standard features.<\/p>\n

Key features included in Vivaldi 1.0 are listed below.<\/p>\n

Tab Stacks, Tab Stack Tiling, and Sessions<\/h3>\n

Tab Stacks lets you create groups of tabs by dragging one tab onto another.<\/p>\n

You can then tile the stack, which will display all the tabs in a stack on the screen at the same time.<\/p>\n

You can also save your favourite set of tabs.<\/p>\n

Access open tabs, bookmarks, history, and settings through a command interface.<\/p>\n

Users\u00a0can also type a character to specify a particular search engine they\u00a0want to use.<\/p>\n

Typing \u201cw List of common misconceptions\u201d will take you to the English Wikipedia, for example.<\/p>\n

Vivaldi also supports\u00a0mouse gestures and keyboard shortcuts that remove the need to\u00a0click on buttons or traverse a context menu.<\/p>\n

Vivaldi lets you add websites to a dashboard, automatically creating a thumbnail image from a screenshot of the site.<\/p>\n
