said WhatsApp.<\/p>\n<p>This followed <a href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/cellular\/164508-free-whatsapp-on-fnb-connect.html\"><strong>FNB Connect announcing<\/strong><\/a> that its subscribers have been able to use WhatsApp for free since 1 May 2016.<\/p>\n<p>Until 31 July 2016, customers will be able to use WhatsApp without incurring data charges.<\/p>\n<p>Detailed below are all the platforms users can download and use WhatsApp on.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3 class=\"my-4\">Smartphones<\/h3>\n<p>WhatsApp is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.whatsapp.com\/download\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>currently available<\/strong><\/a> on several smartphone operating systems, as detailed below.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Apple iPhone<\/strong> &#8211; on iOS 6.0 and up (iPod and iPad not supported)<\/li>\n<li><strong>Android phones<\/strong> &#8211; Android 2.1 and up<\/li>\n<li><strong>Windows Phone\u00a0<\/strong> &#8211; Windows Phone 7 and up<\/li>\n<li><strong>BlackBerry<\/strong> &#8211; BlackBerry OS 5.0 and up<\/li>\n<li><strong>Nokia Symbian<\/strong> &#8211; Nokia S60 3rd edition, 5th edition, Symbian^3, Symbian Anna, or Symbian Belle<\/li>\n<li><strong>Nokia S40<\/strong> &#8211; Select series 40 devices<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>By the end of 2016, WhatsApp Messenger will no longer be supported on the following\u00a0mobile platforms:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>BlackBerry<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Nokia S40<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Nokia Symbian S60<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Android 2.1 and Android 2.2<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Windows Phone 7.1<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/Whatsapp-on-phone.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-152135 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/Whatsapp-on-phone.jpg\" alt=\"Whatsapp on phone\" width=\"640\" height=\"430\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3 class=\"my-4\">Desktop Application<\/h3>\n<p>WhatsApp&#8217;s new desktop application\u00a0runs natively on your desktop, and will have support for native desktop notifications and better keyboard shortcuts.<\/p>\n<p>The desktop app is available for <strong>Windows 8 and up<\/strong>, and <strong>OS X 10.9 and up<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>To download the app, visit <a href=\"https:\/\/www.whatsapp.com\/download\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>www.whatsapp.com\/download<\/strong><\/a> from your desktop browser.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Then, open the app and scan the QR code using the WhatsApp app on your phone,&#8221;
