{"id":167020,"date":"2016-06-16T10:25:06","date_gmt":"2016-06-16T08:25:06","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/?p=167020"},"modified":"2016-06-16T10:28:16","modified_gmt":"2016-06-16T08:28:16","slug":"making-your-home-safer-using-bluetooth-technology","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/security\/167020-making-your-home-safer-using-bluetooth-technology.html","title":{"rendered":"Making your home safer using Bluetooth technology"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Local security company Onguard\u2019s latest BlueLock system promises to \u201cchange the way South Africans keep themselves secure\u201d.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.bluelock.co.za\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>BlueLock<\/strong><\/a> makes use of Bluetooth technology to control access to your property, open and close garages, control lights, and set or disarm alarm systems through a smartphone.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAfter months of intensive development, the cutting-edge system was introduced to South Africa just over a year ago,\u201d said Onguard\u2019s Richard Frost.<\/p>\n<p>BlueLock is a Bluetooth receiver that can be linked to a gate motor, garage, alarm system, door, irrigation system, or light switch.<\/p>\n<p>The receiver has two relay outlets and is controlled with an app available on the Apple and Google app\u00a0stores. The receiver has a range of up to 25 metres.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAfter opening the app, your phone can be added simply by scanning a QR code on the back of the BlueLock receiver.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOnce the app is ready, you can control security access with the touch of a smartphone screen.
