{"id":167291,"date":"2016-06-03T10:53:46","date_gmt":"2016-06-03T08:53:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/?p=167291"},"modified":"2016-06-03T10:55:09","modified_gmt":"2016-06-03T08:55:09","slug":"vodacom-please-call-me-negotiations-may-be-delayed","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/cellular\/167291-vodacom-please-call-me-negotiations-may-be-delayed.html","title":{"rendered":"Vodacom Please Call Me negotiations may be delayed"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A\u00a0dispute between\u00a0Kenneth Makate&#8217;s lawyers and his\u00a0financial backers may delay negotiations over compensation\u00a0for Makate&#8217;s Please Call Me\u00a0idea,\u00a0<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2016-06-02\/vodafone-unit-says-negotiations-with-ex-employee-may-be-delayed\" target=\"_blank\">Vodacom told Bloomberg<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>This comes after the\u00a0<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/cellular\/166420-vodacom-dont-pay-the-please-call-me-inventor-sterling-rand.html\">Mail &amp; Guardian reported<\/a><\/strong> that Sterling\u00a0Rand, the company which\u00a0assisted in financially backing Makate&#8217;s eight-year legal battle, asked Vodacom to withhold at least 50% of any settlement due to\u00a0Makate.<\/p>\n<p>Sterling\u00a0Rand said it was concerned that Makate and his lawyers,\u00a0Stemela &amp; Lubbe, would agree to a deal that excludes it.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Our focus is on compliance with the order of the Constitutional Court which requires us to negotiate in good faith with Mr Makate,&#8221;
