{"id":168015,"date":"2016-06-10T08:11:01","date_gmt":"2016-06-10T06:11:01","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/?p=168015"},"modified":"2016-06-10T08:13:14","modified_gmt":"2016-06-10T06:13:14","slug":"twitter-we-werent-hacked","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/security\/168015-twitter-we-werent-hacked.html","title":{"rendered":"Twitter: we weren&#8217;t hacked"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blog.twitter.com\/2016\/keeping-your-account-safe\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Twitter said<\/strong><\/a> the @names and passwords available on the \u201cdark web\u201d were not obtained from a hack of Twitter\u2019s servers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOver the past days and weeks we\u2019ve responded to several issues, including reports of leaked Twitter @names and passwords,\u201d said Twitter.<\/p>\n<p>The purported Twitter @names and passwords may have been amassed from combining information from other recent breaches, malware on victim machines that are stealing passwords for all sites, or a combination of both.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn each of the recent password disclosures, we cross-checked the data with our records.
