{"id":168277,"date":"2016-06-14T11:58:54","date_gmt":"2016-06-14T09:58:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/?p=168277"},"modified":"2016-06-14T12:00:05","modified_gmt":"2016-06-14T10:00:05","slug":"dstv-vs-showmax","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/broadcasting\/168277-dstv-vs-showmax.html","title":{"rendered":"DStv vs ShowMax"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>ShowMax and MultiChoice <a href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/broadcasting\/168235-dstv-explora-getting-showmax.html\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>recently announced<\/strong><\/a> that DStv Explora owners can access the video streaming service from their decoders.<\/p>\n<p>ShowMax will be added to active DStv Exploras in South Africa in a phased roll-out from 13 June, allowing DStv subscribers to &#8220;binge entire box sets&#8221; of TV series.<\/p>\n<p>Subscribers will have to pay the R99 ShowMax subscription fee, and their decoders will use an Internet connection to stream media from the service. Existing ShowMax customers can login with their account details.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"my-4\">Why DStv and ShowMax?<\/h3>\n<p>MultiChoice explained its reasoning behind the addition\u00a0of ShowMax\u00a0to its Explora, but told MyBroadband it was not planning to bundle ShowMax and DStv subscriptions at this stage.<\/p>\n<p>Customers paying for DStv via debit order, though, will be able to pay for ShowMax through their DStv account.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;DStv and ShowMax are competing services, which are part of the same group.
