Cell C launched its new 21 Mbps HSPA+ network in Gauteng<\/a> on 17 November, coinciding with the company’s nine year anniversary.<\/p>\n

Cell C also launched its new prepaid and postpaid data bundles<\/a> at the event with the following pricing: R50 for 100MB, R100 for 250MB, R150 for 500MB, R250 for 1GB and R400 for 2GB.<\/p>\n

These data bundle prices are competitive on the low end, but consumers made it clear that they expected more from Cell C on the high end where they were more expensive than Vodacom and MTN.<\/p>\n

Cell C was quick to take the recommendations from consumers to heart, and decided to boost their 1GB and 2GB data bundles<\/a> to 1.2GB and 3GB respectively.  This means that Cell C’s data bundle pricing is now the most aggressive in the country with per-MB prices as low as 13c.<\/p>\n

The following table provides an overview of Cell C’s data bundle pricing when compared with similar offerings from Vodacom, MTN and 8ta.<\/p>\n

These data bundles complement Cell C’s other aggressively priced mobile broadband offerings, including its data stick bundles and its recently launched mobile broadband contract offerings.<\/p>\n

Cell C’s promotional prepaid broadband packages are as follows:<\/p>\n

  1. For R1,499 you will get a modem capable of speeds of up to 7.2Mbps and 2GB of data every month for a period of 12 months.<\/li>\n
  2. For R2,999 you will get a modem capable of speeds of up to 21.6Mbps and 5GB of data every month for a period of 12 months.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Cell C complimented its prepaid pricing by launching an accompanying twelve month contract a few weeks ago with pricing that is significantly cheaper than Vodacom, MTN and the newly launched 8ta.<\/p>\n

    1. The first package offers a modem capable of speeds of up to 7.2Mbps and 2GB of data per month for R149 per month.<\/li>\n
    2. The second package offers a modem capable of speeds of up to 21Mbps and 5GB of data per month for R299 per month.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
