At least one person has been\u00a0critically injured in a shoot-out at the Brooklyn Mall in Pretoria.<\/p>\n

The South African Police said three suspected robbers entered the mall and robbed a shop of goods worth close to R1 million.<\/p>\n

A civilian saw the robbers fleeing, said the police, after which he took out his gun to apprehend them.<\/p>\n

The robbers then shot the civilian, took his gun, and fled the scene\u00a0in a white Ford Bantam bakkie without a canopy.<\/p>\n

According to Netwerk24<\/strong><\/a>, the criminals robbed the Scoin shop in the mall.<\/p>\n

Netwerk24 said two robbers entered the Scoin shop during the robbery, while one robber kept watch outside.<\/p>\n

Netwerk24 reporter Nico Gous<\/strong><\/a> said a few of the shops in the mall closed their doors after the shooting.<\/p>\n

The Scoin Shop said in a press statement that two armed assailants walked into the store at 11:45 on 7 July.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey informed our staff that it was a robbery, and demanded access to the cabinets where the coins are kept,\u201d said the company.<\/p>\n

Apart from stealing various precious coins, the criminals also robbed the Scoin Shop staff of their cellphones.<\/p>\n

\u201cUpon leaving the store, the assailants came into contact with a passing shopper, where an altercation arose and unfortunately the shopper was injured.”<\/p>\n

\u201cFortunately, all our staff members are unharmed, but are traumatised.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are shocked about the news of the robbery and the injury. Our main priority is to ensure that all parties involved are all right \u2013 we take the safety of our staff and clients very seriously,\u201d said Scoin\u2019s group executive sales manager Andre van den Berg.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur thoughts go out to the injured shopper, and we wish him a speedy recovery.\u201d<\/p>\n

Civilian stabilised<\/h3>\n

EMER-G-MED<\/strong><\/a> paramedics at the scene of the shooting said the civilian injured in the shoot-out was stabilised, and was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.<\/p>\n
