{"id":171423,"date":"2016-07-11T11:08:28","date_gmt":"2016-07-11T09:08:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/?p=171423"},"modified":"2016-07-11T11:10:15","modified_gmt":"2016-07-11T09:10:15","slug":"thuli-madonsela-back-on-sabc-case","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/broadcasting\/171423-thuli-madonsela-back-on-sabc-case.html","title":{"rendered":"Thuli Madonsela back on SABC case"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Public Protector Thuli Madonsela has confirmed that she is following up on a report she compiled two years ago on governance failures at the public broadcaster.<\/p>\n<p>This following a number of high-profile changes implemented at the broadcaster recently, including banning the airing of protests on television.<\/p>\n<p>A number of journalists at the SABC have since been either charged or suspended for voicing their objections to the decision.<\/p>\n<p>Public Protector spokesperson Kgalalelo Masibi told News24 on Monday that Madonsela wanted to establish whether governance issues at the SABC have improved or worsened since she released a report on the broadcaster in February 2014.<\/p>\n<p>The report was entitled When Governance and Ethics Fail .<\/p>\n<p>In it she listed a number of issues affecting the public broadcaster at the time, including allegations of maladministration, systemic governance and corporate deficiencies, abuses of power and the irregular appointment of COO Hlaudi Motsoeneng.<\/p>\n<p>Masibi said Madonsela now wants to establish if her remedial action recommended to the SABC board had been implemented or not.
