iBurst recently launched its simplified website which now includes a general news section, new menu system and quicker navigation time.<\/p>\n
The company has also launched their “Double Data Deal,” offering new iBurst Wireless subscribers double their usual data allowance for the first six months.<\/p>\n
“Sign up for any Wireless 24- or 36-month contract from R208 pm, between November 2010 and January 2011, and you’ll get double your data free for the first 6 months, absolutely free,” the Burst website stats.<\/p>\n
Broadband Competition<\/strong><\/p>\n iBurst has been facing stiff competition in the wireless broadband market from both Neotel – who simplified their offerings in 2010 – and more recently Cell C, which launched the most affordable broadband offerings ever in South Africa.<\/p>\n Many ISPs are also pushing the limits in the local ADSL ISP market. Afrihost for example currently offers 50% off all new referred clients’ bills as well as crediting the account of the person who made the referral with the ‘other’ 50%.<\/p>\n iBurst Wireless’ speed of 1 Mbps is also not particularly competitive in the local broadband market, especially when compared to Cell C’s 21 Mbps and even Neotel’s 3.1 Mbps.<\/p>\n iBurst’s Double Data Deal may serve to get some consumers excited, especially in areas where consumers cannot get ADSL or Cell C HSPA+ services.<\/p>\n
