2010 has been a year of many positive developments in the South African broadband, telecommunications and IT environments.<\/p>\n
In 2010 broadband consumers enjoyed the introduction of affordable uncapped ADSL offerings from MWEB, Cell C launched their 21 Mbps HSPA+ network accompanied by aggressive promotional mobile broadband prices and some service providers even started offering free ADSL accounts to attract customers.<\/p>\n
This was also the year which saw the communications minister Siphiwe Nyanda losing his job, Telkom facing a change in leadership yet again and the launch of Telkom’s brand new cellular operator 8ta.<\/p>\n
2010 saw Android came into its own with numerous smartphones running on the Google mobile OS being launched, competing against the much hyped iPhone 4 which was also launched in 2010.<\/p>\n
