The news website TechCrunch was hacked by a group called OurMine on 26 July.<\/p>\n

TechCrunch confirmed the hack<\/strong><\/a>, stating\u00a0that \u201can unauthorized individual compromised the WordPress account of one of our TechCrunch writers and used the account to post a story\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis was an isolated instance and we have secured the account. There was no risk posed to our readers or their data,\u201d it said.<\/p>\n

OurMine describes itself as “an elite hacker group known for many hacks showing vulnerabilities in major systems”.<\/p>\n

The hackers posted an article titled “OurMine Team – Important Message!” on TechCrunch, which was deleted after a few minutes.<\/p>\n

The post read:<\/p>\n

Hello guys it’s OurMine Team, we are just testing TechCrunch Security, don\u2019t worry we never change your passwords please contact us (https:\/\/ourmine.org\/news\/contact-us)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

According to reports,\u00a0the account of TechCrunch employee Devin Coldeweys was used to make the post.<\/p>\n
