Consumers have been treated to the best broadband deals ever in South Africa in 2010, and with increasing competition in the market, the aggressive pricing is unlikely to stop.<\/p>\n

Telkom is the latest company to sweeten its broadband deals to attract customers, and is offering all new Telkom SIMPLE subscribers a free 3G USB modem and 500 MB of data (once off) when they sign a 24 month contract.<\/p>\n

Telkom SIMPLE currently offers 24-month contract subscribers the following:<\/p>\n

  1. An analogue phone service<\/li>\n
  2. DSL384 access<\/li>\n
  3. 1GB of blended data & 10GB of local data thereafter <\/li>\n
  4. Free landline calls after hours and over weekends<\/li>\n
  5. Free ADSL modem<\/li>\n
  6. Free installation<\/li>\n
  7. Free 3GB email account<\/li>\n
  8. Free 3G USB modem with 500MB of data (once-off)<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Telkom has long promised that they will start offering bundled ADSL, mobile data and telephony offerings, and this promotion may give an indication of things to come.<\/p>\n

    Although the 8ta service is essentially a standalone service at this stage – and essentially a way for 8ta to attract more data subscribers – Telkom is making sure that they get a Telkom ADSL line and an 8ta service into people’s homes.<\/p>\n

    If a subscriber has all the necessary hardware and active subscriptions it may be easy to up-sell such a customer to a fully converged ADSL, telephony and mobile broadband solution in future.<\/p>\n
