{"id":174154,"date":"2016-07-31T08:12:58","date_gmt":"2016-07-31T06:12:58","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/?p=174154"},"modified":"2016-07-31T08:16:08","modified_gmt":"2016-07-31T06:16:08","slug":"stop-advertising-with-the-sabc","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/broadcasting\/174154-stop-advertising-with-the-sabc.html","title":{"rendered":"Stop advertising with the SABC"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The South African Screen Federation and the\u00a0Save our SABC Coalition have &#8220;declared war&#8221; on the SABC, demanding that COO\u00a0Hlaudi Motsoeneng and\u00a0board chairman Mbulaheni Maguvhe be removed.<\/p>\n<p>The groups are also calling for\u00a0Communications Minister Faith Muthambi to be axed, according to a report by the Sunday Times.<\/p>\n<p>The Federation has\u00a0eight member organisations and represents\u00a0South Africa&#8217;s independent film and TV industry.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We have declared war on the iniquity and abuse of power and public resources by Motsoeneng and his cohorts,&#8221; said the\u00a0Coalition&#8217;s Sekoetlane Phamodi.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;He has been found unfit to hold office by the public protector [and] the courts have found him to have acted illegally and unconstitutionally.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The groups have promised more demonstrations outside the SABC until their demands are met.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"my-4\">Stop advertising with the SABC<\/h3>\n<p>The Coalition has also called on advertisers to take their business away from the SABC until a &#8220;new qualified and transparent management is in place&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>Right2Know has previously called for companies which do business with the SABC to be publicly shamed.<\/p>\n<p>The calls come after Motsoeneng was accused of illegally terminating the contracts of long-serving executives &#8220;because they stood up to him&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Standardised and tested processes and procedures are being ignored, overturned, changed overnight without any consultation with the independent production sector. Due process and integrity are out of the window.
